Just a few minutes after their loss to the White Sox, second baseman, Roberto Alomar and right fielder, Danny Bautista announced to the public that they were retiring... effective today. Alomar, 37, was fighting back pains day-after-day. \"I thought I could play through it,\" said Alomar, \"But I can\'t. I\'m too old at this point. Five, six years ago, I would be able to play through the pain, but now I can\'t endure the pain.\"
The illustrious career of quite possibly, the best second baseman to ever play the game, includes stints with San Diego, Toronto, Baltimore, Cleveland, the New York Mets, Arizona, the Chicago White Sox, and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Bautista, 32, was constantly fighting leg pains and cramps, caused by previous injuries. Bautista commented, \"My legs are in pain and I\'m getting older. I haven\'t\' been playing the same way I was five years ago. It\'s time to call it quits. Tampa Bay has been good to me and I thank the fans.\"
However, they aren\'t completely through with Tampa Bay baseball. Both have agreed to host \"Pardon The Interuption: Tampa Bay\", a new television show held every two weeks to critique the Devil Rays\' season.
