The Bengals prevailed for there 6th win of the year beating the Titans 20-14 at Tennessee. What prevailed was 146 total rushing yards by Cincinnati (109 by Rudi) and the defense stepping up late in the game. Early on both teams scored once, making it 7-7 but Carson Palmer and the in-sync Bengals receivers along with a strong game by Rudi Johnson got the score to 14-7 at half-time.
After half time the Bengals led another strong drive but kicked a 41 yard field goal to extend the lead 17-7. Despite attempts the Titans never got into there redzone until there was 4 minutes left in the game, when that happened Cincinnati\'s defense stopped Tennessee on 4 straight downs on the 1, on those 4 plays Tennessee gained -4 yards and threw the game away. A late second INT by Kitna allowed Pacman Jones to return it for a TD but there was no time left.
After the game Marvin Lewis said this \"I know people are wondering about Ricks, unfortunately it\'s a step from being the worst news possible, I talked to the Doctor just 10 minutes ago and he\'s estimating Ricks being out possibly 8-12 weeks, likely 11-12 weeks as an abdominal tear is something not easy to recover from\"
He continued \"This definately hurts the team, offensively, he was a big FA [Free Agent] pickup and really was in the mix when it came to Carsons passing game but I have total confidence in the receivers and Kelly stepping up there game, I think you saw that after Ricks was out\"
Next week is the first big game of the season, facing the Steelers at home.
