Detroit Red Wings announced yesterday that former Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman has now been officially named as the new GM for the Wings.
Yzerman made immediately a few changes to the Wings rosters, sending D-man Andreas Lilja to NY Rangers for the young backliner Fedor Tyutin. Second trade was completed with Nashville Predators as (RW) Mikael Samuelsson and (D) Brad Ference were send down to Nashville in return of a veteran blueliner Marek Zidlicky.
Red Wings defence is now one of the toughest in the league with captain Lidstrom, Rafalski, Zidlicky and Chelios including future stars such like Niklas Kronwall, Fedor Tyutin, Jonathan Ericsson and Kyle Quincey.
