The 49ers went into halftime tied at 7-7, but erupted for 28 second-half points en route to a 35-17 win over the Chicago Bears in San Francisco.
The Bears did a great job limiting QB Alex Smith, who threw for only 177 yards and was picked off twice. Smith did manage to toss 2 TD passes in the 2nd half though, including a late TD to WR Darrell Jackson that put the game out of reach. Jackson finished with 88 yards receiving and 2 TDs. RB Frank Gore turned out a solid game before leaving the game with fatigue issues. Gore finished with 117 yards on the ground and 2 TDs.
The biggest story of the game was the 49er defense, which held Chicago to only 147 total yards and 7 first downs. DE Derrick Harvey led the way, totaling an NFL-record 8 sacks and pressuring rookie QB Josh Diggs many other times. The 49ers also managed to force 4 Chicago turnovers.
The 49ers improve to 5-0 and have a bye next week.
